Node Collective

NODE Collective is assembling the nation's largest data set of residential electrification incentives

The National Open Data for Electrification (NODE) Collective is collecting more than 2,000 residential incentives nationwide.

“Government-funded rebates, tax credits, and other purchasing incentives are a key driver of consumer adoption of pollution-free technologies like heat pumps, yet navigating fragmented and outdated data can be a confusing and frustrating process.”

-Andre Meurer, Director of Digital Products, Building Decarbonization Coalition

NODE Collective is a consortium of organizations building the most comprehensive and up-to-date open data repository of every residential electrification incentive program in the nation. The initiative is a response to the fragmented incentive landscape that makes finding and taking advantage of incentives challenging for homeowners, renters, and businesses. The urgency of the climate crisis necessitates interorganizational collaboration to reach our shared clean energy goals.

Gathering the data to run NODE Collective has three components:

  • Proactive data collection: Creating dedicated submission channels to enable NODE to actively gather up-to-date and precise incentive data.

  • Collaborative updates: A network of stakeholders collaborating to maintain data accuracy and consistency, underpinned by structured protocols and expert review.

  • Standardization of incentive data: By creating clear formats and guidelines, NODE aims to eliminate inconsistencies and facilitate streamlined access by publishing the data as a collective. The collective will also encourage and support rebate program administrators in standardizing and sharing rebate information to keep key program details up to date.

This resource will be open and accessible to all so that nonprofits, state energy programs, contractors, and others can work closely with households to help them access a variety of incentives for their homes. The comprehensive set of incentives and rebates includes highly efficient electric appliances like heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, induction cooktops, and heat pump clothes dryers. Other electrification incentives and rebates for battery storage, electric vehicle chargers, e-bikes, electric lawn care, weatherization, and electric panel and wiring upgrades will be aggregated by NODE Collective.

“NODE Collective will accelerate the pace of residential electrification. We also hope to recruit members from the private, government, and advocacy sectors to bring NODE Collective's data to an even larger audience.”

-Tom Carden, Head of Engineering, Rewiring America

Founding members of Node Collective include Eli Technologies, the Building Decarbonization Coalition, Rewiring America, RMI (founded as Rocky Mountain Institute) and the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center.
